Kelsea Ballerini has a date to the CMA Awards! She’s 17-year-old Allie Allen and she’s a patient at St. Jude fighting her second round with brain cancer. And she’s not alone in her fight. According to My Fox Memphis, Allie’s mom is also battling breast cancer. Allie’s grandfather lost his five-year battle with brain cancer in March.
But Allie continues to give life everything she’s got. Despite treatments, Allie hasn’t missed a football game at her school, Houston High School, and she sits on the sidelines rocking her pom uniform. She even filmed a pep talk for the Mustangs from her hospital bed before a game. Allie was voted Houston’s Junior Homecoming Princess, and a childhood friend shaved his head and took her his homecoming dance so she wouldn’t miss any fun.
Now, Allie’s in for some serious fun with Kelsea at the CMAs. Kelsea’s personal hair and beauty team are coordinating a show-stopping red carpet look for Allie complete with a gorgeous gown from New York. Kelsea made her big CMA-proposal online over the weekend.

Kix Brooks and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scottt were on hand to deliver a large check to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital on behalf of the CMA.
The $3 million donation will help the hospital with its four-floor expansion, which will add 160,000 square feet to the space. Plans are in place to add 80 beds for critically ill or injured children, including premature infants, and for neurosurgery, organ transplant and other critical care patients.
Kix says, "Country music is a format known for telling stories. Now the country music community will be known for building them. Building floors means helping more children and families -- locally, regionally and around the world."
