Jacob Miller was fast asleep on a couch when the victims opened their front door, saw him and called 911. Cops were on the scene within moments to wake the 22-year-old, who had ransacked the place, leaving chicken bones and empty beer bottles on the floor, along with jewelry and electronics that he hadn't had time to properly pack up.
Miller told the responding officers that he broke into the house because he needed a place to stay, but declined to comment on why he'd gone through the family's belongings. He's being held on charges of burglary and theft.
