The New York woman who was criticized this week for suing her nephew over an aggressive hug is speaking out and setting the record straight.
Jennifer Connell was slammed all over the news and social media after word got out that she was suing her 12-year-old nephew Sean for $127,000 in damages from a broken wrist she suffered four years ago when he hugged her. Earlier this week, a jury ruled against her and awarded her no damages.
Connell appeared on the Today show this morning with her nephew to explain the case and let the public know that she would never do anything to hurt Sean. She says the lawsuit was all about getting the insurance company to pay for her medical bills, and because of a technicality, she had to sue and name Sean as the defendant because he was the other person involved in the injury. She adds, "It sounded terrible to me from the very beginning" and "I was never comfortable with that."
