Cops say Adam Tanzer was arrested after he got into an argument with his 82-year-old grandmother and pushed her to the ground. According to police, Tanzer was angry that his grandmother refused to give him a debit card so that he could go buy a cake. He was arrested and charged with battery on a person 65 or older.

Officials in one Florida town proved they're not playing with a full deck -- they decided their mayoral election by having the two top candidates draw to see which one would pick a higher card.
Residents of Bradenton Beach expected a close race, but no one imagined that incumbent Mayor Jack Clarke and challenger Bill Shearon would each tally exactly 195 votes each out of a possible 758. Authorities went to the rule book and found a new election was out -- and the two men would have to "draw lots" to pick a winner. The candidates talked about rolling dice and even considered rock-paper-scissors, then settled on the card trick and sent someone out to buy a fresh deck.
Mayor Clarke drew first and pulled the 10 of Clubs, which looked pretty good until Shearon pulled an ace, and became the city's mayor by the luck of the draw.

A Florida cop made the mother of all drunken blunders when he showed up to be honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving -- after driving to the ceremony while drunk as a skunk.
Michael Szeliga was supposed to pick up an award for making 100 DUI arrests and to help a class on enforcing those laws, but he was stopped on his way into the event by a fellow officer who described him as "staggeringly drunk." The other cop, a police chief from a nearby town, said that Szeliga was belligerent and insubordinate, and reported him to a superior officer, who ordered him away from the banquet and to go back to his hotel room.
Earlier that day, Szeliga had been warned about some drunken high-jinks at that hotel, where he was spotted standing in a hallway, "glassy-eyed and wearing only boxer shorts." He was suspended, with pay, for one day over the weekend-long bender.

An Asian buffet restaurant in Daytona, Florida serves up lots of different dishes, but no one ever expected to find a 30-year-old man on the buffet next to the sweet-and-sour chicken.
