After two years of marriage, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are divorcing.
"It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce," the couple said in a joint statement to ABC News. "We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children's privacy as we go through this difficult period."
Berry and Martinez got engaged in March 2012, then revealed they were expecting in 2013. The Oscar-winning actress and Martinez were wed in France's Burgundy region in July 2013.
Son Maceo was born just after the wedding in October of that year. Berry, 49, also has a daughter, Nahla, from a previous relationship with model Gabriel Aubry.
This was the actress's third marriage. She was wed to baseball star David Justice from 1993 to 1997, then R&B singer Eric Benet from 2001 to 2005. This was the first marriage for Martinez, 49, who had been previously linked to singer Kylie Minogue for some time.

Mike Tyson lends his likeness and his voice to Adult Swim's animated series, Mike Tyson Mysteries. The series, which is in the style of the classic cartoon Scooby-Doo!, depicts Tyson as a retired boxer who uses pigeons to solve mysteries.
So how'd Tyson come up with the idea? He didn't, he said on Tuesday's Live with Kelly and Michael. The retired boxer explained the show was Warner Bros. idea -- in fact, two executives came to his house to explain the concept. "They explained the situation and I said, 'It's not going to work. I'm not interested,'" he recalled. "And they said, 'Wow, that's interesting because I didn't think it would work either.'"
Tyson said eventually Warner Bros. returned "and we went in the studio and when I saw the rough copy, I said, 'Wow! That looks cool!'"
Although it wasn't Tyson's first time acting -- he's been featured in the Hangover film series -- it was his first time in an animated series. Still, the boxer said he had no problem recording his voice alone in a studio.
"Well, you know, I had a little snacks to eat on every now and then," he said, laughing. "And I could see the producer giving me information. It's really exciting."
Mike Tyson Mysteries premieres Sunday.
