Lenny B. Robinson, the Good Samaritan who visited children in hospitals dressed as Batman and entered the public spotlight after police pulled him over in costume, died Sunday after a car hit his custom Batmobile on a Maryland interstate. Robinson was on his way back from a car show when the Batmobile broke down on the interstate. He pulled over and was checking the engine when another car struck his, sending his beloved vehicle into him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Moments before his death, Robinson, 51, chatted up a family at a gas station and gifted the kids superhero paraphernalia before heading back on the road. Robinson made his money in the cleaning business. He spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, his brother said, on his ‘60s-style Batmobile, a costume that seemed more real than those in the movies, and the trinkets he handed out to children, always autographed “Batman.” It took him about 45 minutes to put on the black eye makeup and his cumbersome superhero uniform, which drained him of five to six pounds in water weight every time he wore it.

Emile Hirsch pleaded guilty yesterday to assaulting a film executive at the Sundance Film Festival in January and must serve 15 days in jail as part of his plea agreement. The “Into the Wild” actor agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor assault in exchange for the 15-day jail term and serving 50 hours of community service in Salt Lake City. He must also pay a $4,750 fine. The plea deal stems from an incident in January in which Insurge Pictures executive Daniele Bernfeld says Hirsch put her into a chokehold while the two were at a nightclub in Park City, Utah. Court documents indicate Hirsch pulled her across a table and onto the floor where he wrapped his arms around her neck. Bernfeld said her vision began to go dark and she may have temporarily blacked out. Hirsch was arrested that morning after bystanders allegedly pulled him off Bernfeld. Witnesses said he appeared intoxicated and had asked Bernfeld why she looked “so tough” and called her a “rich kid.”
CNN anchor Chris Cuomo is being hailed as a hero after he saved a man from drowning over the weekend in the Hamptons.
Cuomo, who is also the brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, was on his boat with his family when he spotted a man in distress floating in the water and being carried away in a strong rip current. He yelled at the man to swim out of it at an angle, but he didn't have the strength, so Cuomo tossed him a life preserver and jumped in after him. Cuomo swam several hundred feet from his boat and caught up to the man who he was able to grab and pull back to the shore. A police boat arrived moments later. There's no word on the man's condition and Cuomo has not commented on the incident.
