Morgan Freeman’s 33-year-old step-granddaughter was murdered outside of her New York City home early Sunday morning.
E’Dena Hines was found lying on the street with stab wounds to her torso and was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her boyfriend, Lamar Davenport, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital. He was allegedly screaming about religion during the stabbing.
This morning (Monday), authorities charged Davenport with second-degree murder. Morgan issued a statement, saying “Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.” (TMZ)
The New York Post says the circumstances of the murder are more bizarre than initially reported. Witness accounts describe the crime scene as an “attempted exorcism” that may have been brought on by a drug-induced psychosis.

Jessica Simpson and her father Joe Simpson are named in a lawsuit filed by a man who claims he was stiffed a $12 million finder's fee for connecting them with the eventual buyer of the The Jessica Simpson Collection.
Jessica sold a majority stake in her retail brand company for $120 million dollars in the spring. Now, an agent named Jeffrey Bowler, who claims he brokered the deal, is demanding his 10% cut. But Jessica's representative says “She has never met Mr. Bowler nor has she ever had any dealings with him whatsoever.” Meanwhile, Joe has reportedly counter-sued, calling Bowler’s demands for a finder’s fee nothing short of extortion. He says they had discussions back in 2010 and spoke about a possible deal but nothing ever materialized. In other words, nothing was ever put in writing.

Ben Affleck wasn't the only one being unfaithful when he allegedly hooked up with the nanny -- Christine Ouzounian was reportedly engaged at the time the supposed affair began.
OK! Magazine says her fiance was Christoph Albury, a fisherman in the Bahamas. The two are believed to have gotten engaged in 2013. But he worried that her glitzy job would do them in. An insider says, “Christoph had been afraid he would lose her when she started nannying for celebrities.”
Now Christine is at the center of a scandal that supposedly ended the 10-year marriage of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Seems the fisherman was right to worry.
Meanwhile, Ben and Jen reunited Saturday to celebrate his 43rd birthday at Universal Orlando Studios. An eyewitness tells People magazine that things were chilly between the two. "They didn't even look at each other. They were talking to the kids, but they didn't talk or even look in each other's direction. They seemed like strangers – awkward strangers."
The stars announced their split in June.
