A Kentucky man was arrested after trying to make sure that his deceased father was on the highway to heaven -- by digging up his corpse to help get the trip under way.
Michael May, who had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana before hatching his plot on Monday night, went to the cemetery behind the Pilot Baptist Church and began digging up the grave of his dad, who died back in 1978. A constable on patrol went to check out the scene, at which point a visibly intoxicated May began shouting Bible verses and saying he was doing God's work.
The officer told the 44-year-old that he was making a grave mistake by defiling the plot, but May insisted "I see the truth.. he needs to be on the ground. Not under it. If the truth doesn't come out and nobody sees the truth, I'll do it again." He was charged with violating a grave, possession of marijuana and public intoxication.
