A Florida man couldn't get any nibbles when he tried to reel in customers with a great deal -- on a live shark he was selling on the sidewalk in front of a supermarket.
Patrick Lanier reportedly pulled up in front of the Publix store and dumped the five-foot nurse shark on the concrete, hawking it to passersby for around a hundred bucks -- which he insisted was a bargain. Lanier insisted he wasn't guilty of cruelty, saying, "Every now and then, I'd throw some water on it." Shockingly, he had no takers, and people seemed grossed out by the fact that the animal was laying out in the sun for several hours.
Once managers figured out what Lanier was doing, they asked him to leave, and he did. He says he released the shark back into the water, where it swam away.
