An Arizona man was really geared up for his release from prison -- but ended up parked back behind bars after trying to steal a truck from the jail loading dock minutes after being freed.
David Spurlock was let out of the 4th Avenue Jail in Phoenix after serving a short stint on unspecified drug charges, but as soon as he walked out the door, he ran to the back of the building and hopped into the cabin of an 18-wheeler that was backed into the loading zone. The 29-year-old had no problem getting into the vehicle, but couldn't figure out how to get it started and was nabbed by guards who'd watched the whole incident unfold on surveillance tape.
Spurlock admitted his guilt and said he was hoping to sell the truck to get money for more of the drugs that had landed him in the slammer to begin with.

An Australian man will have his lawyer pepper cops with questions after they jailed him for months on charges of possessing a bag of meth -- which turned out to be common salt.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken into custody in the spring when officers searched his car and said they found a quantity of crystal meth. But while the hapless dude remained behind bars, tests on the substance kept getting delayed -- until last week, when a seasoned lab technician reported that the deputies had busted him for driving around in possession of simple epsom salts.
His lawyer, Travis George, admits the lengthy detention period was probably due to his client’s previous convictions, but says a lawsuit is still possible.

Passengers on a European jet were feeling less than bubbly after their plane was forced to make an emergency landing -- because a cork popped from a champagne bottle put it in danger of crashing.
The flight from Britain to Turkey was forced to divert to Italy after the woman accidentally fired the stopper into the roof of the plane. causing a loss of pressure that made oxygen masks drop into the seats. A rep for EasyJet says a catastrophe was unlikely, but the damage was bad enough to pierce the ceiling and require repair.
One passenger said, “It wasn’t very funny at the time, but I can see the lighter side now. No one on the flight could believe it, and people I have spoken to have found it hilarious.”
