An Ohio woman who tried to take a cabbie for a ride was ordered to take a hike -- by a judge who sentenced her to walk 30 miles, the exact length of a taxi trip she'd refused to pay for.
Victoria Bascom skipped out on a driver who shuttled her from downtown Cleveland to the far east suburb of Painesville, a ride that would've cost her roughly a hundred bucks. The 18-year-old, who was identified via cell phone records, was picked up by cops a few days later and sent to appear before Judge Michael Cicconetti, who offered her a choice -- either serve 60 days in Lake County Jail or walk the 30 miles in 48 hours.
Bascom chose the latter option and was equipped with a GPS to keep track of her whereabouts. She also had to pay the $100 -- which seems fare to us.
