Martina McBride received the Beacon of Hope Award from Covenant House at the Night of Broadway Stars Tuesday in Nashville.
The award is in recognition of her work on behalf of homeless and trafficked youth. She says, “As a mother, it is heartbreaking to know there are children suffering and struggling on their own. And as a celebrity being blessed to achieve success throughout my career, it is my responsibility to help."
Past recipients of the honor include Jon Bon Jovi, first lady Laura Bush, and George and Olivia Harrison. Team Martina -- a global charity group that works to make the world a better place through the healing power of music -- has raised more than $300,000 and has funded a music education program for Covenant House in Guatemala.

Two of country music's more dapper dudes, Thomas Rhett and Brett Eldredge, are hitting the road together. This fall, the pair will bring their brand of metro-country to cities across the nation as the co-headliners of the 14th Annual CMT On Tour. Dates will be announced later this year.
Dubbed the Suits & Boots Tour, a nod to Rhett and Eldredge's often GQ-level fashion sense, the CMT-sponsored trek will also feature Danielle Bradbery as a special guest. The "Crash and Burn" singer and the Frank Sinatra crooner announced the tour during a well-scripted Twitter exchange this afternoon, and took good-natured pot shots at each other in a video they posted to YouTube. The matter at hand: who will open for whom.
