Sandra Bullock and George Clooney have always made a great team, going back to their early days in Hollywood.
While promoting her latest film, Our Brand Is Crisis, which Clooney is producing, Bullock recalled how Clooney once served as the perfect wingman, approaching a guy she "would have liked to" have had as her "boyfriend at the time."
"George said, 'If you don't marry her, I will," Bullock told Access Hollywood.
She was quick to add, "George is not gonna marry anybody except for Amal. He was waiting 30 years to do that."
Clooney's quick quip worked on the mutual friend, who went on to have a four-year relationship with the actress. Bullock did not reveal the identity of her former boyfriend.
"We were together for four years after that, thanks to George," she said.
Bullock, who has an adopted son Louis, has since moved on. She recently went public with new beau Bryan Randall, a model and photographer, who attended Monday night's premiere.
Our Brand Is Crisis, also starring Billy Bob Thornton and Anthony Mackie, hits theaters Friday.

Information about Suicide Squad has been trickling out here and there. Recently, the film's star Will Smith opened up about how he never met Jared Leto, who plays the Joker in the movie, because Leto was always in character. Now, Leto himself is finally talking about the difficult process of becoming Batman's greatest foe.
"There was definitely a period of…detachment,” he told Empire magazine in its latest issue. "I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn't imagine doing it another way."
In fact, co-star Adam Beach reportedly said that Leto, acting in character, sent Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn, a rat. Robbie, playing the Joker's love interest in the film, kept the rat as a pet. "It was fun, playing those psychological games," Leto explained. "It was painful, like giving birth out of my p****-****."
Director David Ayer said Leto's transformation was quite frightening. "By some freaking miracle, through the incredible things Jared has done and the photography and all the other things that went into it, we've cooked up something transcendent. He’s scary," he added.
Suicide Squad, also starring Ben Affleck as Batman and Viola Davis, opens nationwide August 2016.

After Lamar Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel two weeks ago, his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, rushed to be at his side. However, that doesn't mean the couple is reconciling.
The pair married in 2009, but Kardashian filed for divorce four years later. Both parties signed off on that divorce earlier this year, but it was never finalized. Last week, both Kardashian and Odom called off the divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
"I don't believe love is fickle," Kardashian tells People magazine. "I believe when you love someone, you are allowed to love from afar. You don't have to be with that person in order to love him."
When she learned of Odom's condition, Kardashian says "All I knew was I had to get there. I had to get to him and make sure he was okay. ...I wouldn't want anybody in that situation, especially someone I love and care about."
But that doesn't mean they're back together. "There are too many other important things, too many medical things. It's not even in our brains thinking about us as a couple or having a relationship right now," Kardashian says. I loved him always, and I will always love him."
When Odom finally opened his eyes a week and a half ago, Odom's family released a statement calling his recovery "miraculous." Kardashian agrees.
"The fact that he woke up was definitely a sigh of relief for everybody," she tells People. "Every hour is different. It goes up and it goes down but he's awake. He's alive and that's all I wanted, was for him to be okay. ...I will be there supporting him every step of the way."

These days, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus couldn't seem more different, but it wasn't so long ago the pair were engaged. Two years after calling off the engagement, Hemsworth tells Men's Fitness he has no regrets about his relationship with Cyrus, including popping the question.
"You fall in love with who you fall in love with; you can never choose," he says in the magazine's November issue. "I guess some people just come with a little more baggage."
"It wasn’t just a fling," he continues. "It really was an important part of my life and always will be."
The Hunger Games star only had kind words about his ex. "She's a free spirit who wants to do what she wants to do," he says.
Hemsworth and Cyrus met in 2009 on the set of the film The Last Song and got engaged in the summer of 2012. By September 2013, the couple had called off their engagement.
