Last night’s TV shocker: Dr. Derek Shepherd died on Grey’s Anatomy.
Actor Patrick Dempsey revealed backstage secrets to Entertainment Weekly about his character’s fate. “There wasn’t a lot of discussion. It was just a natural progression. This was obviously the right time. I like the way it has all played out.” Dempsey learned he was effectively fired from the show only last month.
Earlier this week, the New York Post reported that creator Shonda Rhimes was on her last nerve with Dempsey’s diva behavior. He was under contract for the 12th season, but did not even survive until the end of number 11.
Rhimes provided a written statement last night, (quote) “Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character — for Meredith Grey, for me and for the fans. I absolutely never imagined saying goodbye to our ‘McDreamy.’”
Diehard fans have vowed to NEVER watch the series again... But just in case here is a preview for the 2 hour event for next week...

About a dozen Native American actors walked off the set of an Adam Sandler movie because they felt it insulted native women and elders.
The actors took umbrage with native women’s names such as Beaver’s Breath and No Bra, an actress portraying an Apache woman squatting and urinating while smoking a peace pipe, and feathers inappropriately positioned on a teepee.
The Netflix movie is a western spoof called The Ridiculous Six and it stars Sandler, Nick Nolte, Steve Buscemi, Dan Aykroyd, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice.
A Netflix exec defends the movie, telling TMZ, "The movie has ridiculous in the title for a reason: because it is ridiculous." The rep added that the diverse cast "is not only part of -- but in on -- the joke."
The movie also stars country superstar Blake Shelton. A release date will be determined at a later date.

Derek Hough's season with Dancing With the Stars is in doubt.
The five-time champ suffered major injuries while rehearsing for the 10th anniversary special. His rep says Derek broke a toe on his right foot and suffered sprains to his left ankle.
That forced him out of the New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City this week and mostly likely puts the kibosh on his performance on next Monday's Dancing With the Stars.
Derek, who was spotted walking with crutches Wednesday morning, wrote on Instagram, "This is new territory for me. I'm usually able to work through injury, but this one has literally floored me. But like I said before I'm determined to come back all guns blazing."
